Tulip Orchid | Encyclia Citrina | Botanical Illustration | Framed Canvas
A vintage botanical Illustration transformed to canvas print of the plant Tulip Orchid (Encyclia Citrina).
The botanical illustration has been meticulously restored and given new life.
The canvas is a finely textured artist-grade cotton substrate which consistently reproduces image details with outstanding clarity and detail and is amazing wall art for anyone interested in vintage botanical illustration, botany, and nature.
The walnut colored frame is built with a solid face to support the canvas and prevent deforming.
The Tulip Orchid belongs to the orchid family (Orchidaceae). The plant has a strong lemon fragrance. Its petals are golden yellow with varying degrees of white crenelations in the lip.
The plant itself may be upright or pendant, but the flowers are always pendant.
The English common name "Tulip Orchid" is due to its flowers' rounded cup-like shape.
The botanical illustration was originally featured in "The Orchid Album: Comprising coloured figures and descriptions of new, rare and beautiful orchidaceous plants" published in London from 1882 - 1897.
John Nugent Fitch (1840-1927), a British botanical illustrator and lithographer, both drew and lithographed the drawing.
