It is also known by the common names Thimbleweed, and Smell Fox. The plant is native to Europe.
It is assumed that the plant was discovered by William Robinson, the father of modern gardening, without him claiming any proprietorial rights. Hence the name "Robinsoniana".
The original illustration featured on the journal is by J.R. Guillot and was first published 1901 in "Revue horticole, serié 4, vol. 73".
