Forget-Me-Not (Myosotis scorpioides, also known as The True Forget-Me and Water Forget-Me-Not, is an herbaceous perennial flowering plant in the borage family (Boraginaceae).
It is native to Europe and Asia but is widely distributed elsewhere, including much of North America, as an introduced species.
The original illustration is by Pierre-Joseph Redouté and was first published 1833 in "Choix des plus belles fleurs :et des plus beaux fruits" by Pierre Joseph Redouté, (1759-1840) in Paris.
Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840), was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolors of roses, lilies and other flowers.
He was nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers" and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time.
He was the official court artist of Queen Marie Antoinette and he continued painting through the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror.
